About Us

Dragonfly Reads is a bookstore for book lovers, by book lovers. We opened our doors in February 2024, when the idea of a brick-and-mortar bookstore felt either courageous or foolhardy. With some trepidation and much hope, we brought together people who love books as much as we do. In our two years as booksellers, we’ve been pleasantly surprised to still be afloat in a trade where the odds are rarely in our favour. Since then, our community has only grown, and we're proud to be a space held up by readers.

Our shelves reflect what we like, but Dragonfly Reads was created for everyone: the book-lover, the curious minded, even the willing book-averse. Books are chosen with care, thought, and affection for we believe that there's a right book for the right reader.

We're located at Jinvara next to a little pond with fish and dragonflies. Because of where we are, we often imagine ourselves as more than a bookstore: space for community to think, to read, to sit, to talk, to celebrate, to be quiet, a part-time theatre, an art house, a pop-up restaurant, an eccentric laboratory of ideas. Whatever we metamorphose into, we remain true to our book-selling, book-loving roots.
